Sebastiane (1976)

Il film segue le vicende di un avamposto di un esercito romano in cui alcuni soldati si abbandonano al piacere omosessuale. Un centurione romano dimostra un interesse particolare per Sebastiano (Leonardo Treviglio), che però rifiuta le sue avances. L'ufficiale, indispettito, martirizzerà infine il ritroso prigioniero legandolo a un palo e facendolo trafiggere dalle frecce.

 300 A.D. : the Roman Sebastianus is exiled to a remote outpost populated exclusively by men. Weakened by their desires, these men turn to homosexual activities to satisfy their needs. However, Sebastianus becomes the target of lust for a homosexual centurion, but he rejects the man's advances.

Grande Ecole (2004)

Paul and Agnes have been going out for quite a while and Agnes is shocked to learn that he'd rather live with two roommates on campus than move in with her. As soon as he meets one of his roommates, Louis-Anault, Paul's behavior changes - he is attracted to Louis without realizing so himself. Agnes, on the other hand, gets quite jealous and offers a bet: Whoever gets to have Louis-Anault first, wins... If she does, Paul will no longer explore his homosexual desires, if he does - she'll walk away. Meanwhile, Paul meets Mecir, a young Arab worker, who shows him there's more to life than elite colleges...

 Un gruppo di giovani uomini e donne sono ammessi alla "Grande scuola" dove amministratori e politici di domani vengono formati. Ci sono la crema di tutti gli studenti della nazione. Ma la vita non è facilmente pianificabile e fantasia ed immaginazione possono prendere il sopravvento. La confusione che genereranno i contrasti tra corpo, cuore e mente cambierà molte delle loro convinzioni. La vera educazione alla vita deve costruirsela ognuno per conto suo, senza escludere preventivamente nulla dalla propria esperienza. Più che di educazione politica si tratta quindi di un film sull'educazione sentimentale che avrebbe potuto intitolarsi "Grandi amori". La struttura del film ricorda i primi film di Fassbinder.

 

Blackmail Boy (2003)

Una scabrosa commedia nera che rimanda ai primi film di Almodovar ma senza l'ironia e il colore che li caratterizzavano. Qui siamo molto vicini alla tragedia greca. La storia si svolge in una città della provincia di Atene dove una famiglia della media classe borghese si sta disgregando. Magda, la tormentata mater-familias, ha una polemica figlia, Yota, che vive al piano superiore, e un figlio che adora, Hristos, 20enne, il quale ha una storia con la sua maestra di chimica e con suo marito Yorgos. Yota e suo marito, Stelios, vogliono che Magda venda alcune sue terre, alle quali è attaccata sentimentalmente, e che quindi rifiuta di vendere. L'uomo incaricato della ridefinizione urbanistica di quelle terre è Yorgos, così Stelios, che è a conoscenza della sua relazione gay col giovane Hristos, cerca di ricattarlo.

In the small, closed community of a provincial town, Magda tries to maintain a balance within a family facing many serious problems. The families apparently normal, bourgeois, every-day life will crack open, bringing to the surface hatred and passions of the kind that lie well-hidden in the mists of the nearby lake. An intense plot and a totally unexpected ending make up this film, which features characters who are vulnerable, innocent and ordinary, but who become ruthless and callous, worrying only about protecting their financial resources. The offences are disproportionately serious compared to the financial benefits they try to secure.
